We are looking for an exceptional Banquet Supervisor to coordinate and supervise the execution of all banquet functions held at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens as outlined in banquet event order (BEO) and Event Manager’s specifications. We want someone that will embrace and foster our food philosophy, culture, and high service standards.
Duties include:
* Assisting management in hiring and training of service staff; establish and teach standards of performance, identify training opportunities, and create a strategy to accomplish goals.
* Preparing schedules to ensure a sufficient number and appropriate skill level of staff. Ensure an event captain is assigned for each event.
* Preparing and reviewing payroll reports in a timely matter for analysis in maintaining appropriate labor expenses, budget guidelines, and state law adherence.
* Performing monthly inventory audits of event small-wares, linens, décor, and equipment.
* Executing banquet events according to Banquet Event Order by overseeing service staff, confirming staff arrives in proper uniform, create duty assignments, and communicate floor plans.
* Regularly reviewing upcoming BEO’s with Event Coordinators and Events Manager and have thorough understanding of all requirements for upcoming scheduled events. Provide event servers/bussers with a copy of BEO upon their arrival and review with staff prior to every event to gain a thorough understanding of event specifications prior to the event.
* Providing clear and concise communications to everyone having ownership in the success of the event.
* Inspecting event room prior to the start of each event ensuring room setup, menu, service staff, etc., conforms to the BEO and Event Coordinator’s expectations.
* Greeting the client upon their arrival prior to the start of each event and be present throughout the event to assist where needed. Periodically check with customer to ensure satisfaction and respond to any requests.
* Troubleshooting operational problems and provide solutions as needed.
* Preparing a complete an accurate bill to the customer at the completion of the event and collect final payment. If another payment arrangement has been made, have the terms noted on the bill.
* Directing and supervising breakdown and cleanup after the event. Account for all equipment and supplies. Return items to storage areas and/or arrange for return of rented materials.
* Understanding and complying with all federal, state, county, and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety, and labor requirements of the restaurant, team members, and guests.
* Attending regularly scheduled weekly BEO and Event Department meetings.
* Conducting post-event analysis and evaluation; produce Event Recap reports for event stakeholders and management.
* Adhering to Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens high service standards.
To perform this job successfully you must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel, and guests; be organized, self-motivated, and self-directed; be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours); and be able to reach, bend, stoop, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a management or supervisory position with relevant restaurant/hotel experience required. Must possess knowledge of service, food, and beverage industry generally involving at least 3 years of front-of-the-house restaurant experience and/or banquet/event experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with POS systems (specifically Aloha), and Open Table desirable. Must have a valid California Driver’s License and auto insurance in good standing and a current San Diego County Food Handler’s Card. CMP highly desirable.
